What if I only want to come in for one day with a group?

We can organize and accommodate just about any volunteering opportunity to fit the needs of you and your group. We have monthly birthday parties that your group can sponsor or group projects to help build team dynamics and community awareness.

What is the age requirement?

We ask that all of the volunteers that work directly with the children are 16 years old and over.

What steps should I take to get started volunteering at Heart House?

It’s simple! First contact the Volunteer Coordinator for dates and times of the next volunteer orientation. Next, attend the orientation, which is about one hour long, and then begin your volunteer adventure with Heart House!

We do run a background check on all volunteers for the protection of the children.

What is the schedule like at Heart House?

In the academic year, the kids are here from 3:30-6:30 pm, and in the summer they are here from 12:00-6:00 pm.

The volunteer base at Heart House is diverse, from college students to working professionals within the community. Heart House is always looking for people who care about children and their safety and education. Patience and a sense of humor are desirable traits for volunteers. Volunteering with children is an opportunity with great rewards, and a wonderful way to give back to the community.
