"You can tell the difference in the children who participate in the program and those who do not. Not only does Heart House provide a safe and secure environment for students after school, it is obvious that at Heart House, students learn about respecting themselves and others. Through their actions it is evident that Heart House teaches the students to be compassionate and caring. I wish all of my students participated in the program."
Mrs. Connie Wallace, Principal
Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary
Heart House Dallas is a free afterschool program dedicated to providing a safe haven and academic support to children of low-income families in the densely-populated Vickery Meadow community in Dallas, Texas.
To grow up to be healthy and productive citizens, children need critical resources now to build a better future, including:
Trained instructors and mentors;
Safe places with structured activities during non-school hours;
Health and mental health professionals;
Training in marketable skills/competencies acquired through education and youth development; and
Community service and civic participation.
At Heart House, our young citizens receive access to these resources, and more.
We invite you to explore our model program and why afterschool programs are so critical to the future success and well-being of our children.
